Annika Purdey is a seventh generation Purdey, arguably the foremost name in British gunmaking. Perhaps unsurprisingly she’s also a very good shot, and a tireless advocate for women in the field. She knows as well as anyone about the excitement, the enjoyment and the camaraderie that comes with shooting, but she also appreciates how daunting it can be to compete alongside big groups of seasoned shots.
In 2025, the BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) celebrated a record number of female members (7.5%), a statistic that mirrored the number of firearm and shotgun certificates in England and Wales (of the 496,904 certificate holders, six per cent were women). It’s incredibly pleasing to see these numbers increasing but, of course, there’s still plenty of work to be done.
With that in mind, Annika will host her inaugural eponymous Ladies Day Shoot on 6th June 2026 at Purdey at The Royal Berkshire (PRB). Ladies of all abilities are welcome to join, from experts to first timers, and a percentage of ticket sales will go to the event’s charitable partner, Country Food Trust.
The day will follow a competition format with up to 100 guests split into teams of four (guests are very welcome to bring a full team otherwise they’ll be allocated a team accordingly). A series of shooting challenges will ensue – and to the victors, some rather impressive spoils. Indeed, it is Annika’s intention to make this the most elevated Ladies Day around, a day blending high-end hospitality with world-class sporting facilities. Alongside a day of incredible shooting, guests will enjoy a light breakfast, traditional Elevenses in the field, pre-lunch champagne, and a formal sit-down seasonal lunch to conclude the day.
“We really wanted a day that reflects how much we appreciate and value our female clients, the modern Purdey women, who we’re fortunate to have so many of these days. We wanted to create a luxurious, classically Purdey experience, to be held in the naturally spectacular surroundings of PRB, our truly superb newly refurbished shooting school, and we were keen to design that experience with more of a female feel to it.”

“Everyone at Purdey is excited that we will be introducing a new, glorious, Ladies Day with Annika Purdey hosting the day, along with special guests, celebrating women in field sports and welcoming ladies of all shooting abilities to our beautiful, newly refurbished shooting grounds in Berkshire, all whilst raising funds for a great cause.
We are delighted to be partnering with The Country Food Trust for this event, a food poverty charity, who raise vital funds to provide high-protein, game based nutritious meals to those in need. It is a fantastic initiative that uses sustainable game meat to makes a real difference."
