Handicap Challenge Final decided with a shoot-off!!
The 2nd of May brought with it the most exciting Final of the Handicap Challenge we have seen in years here at the RB! A particularly high-scoring event, with not one but two shooters claiming 98 of the 100 birds on offer, leading to a shoot-off. Becky Elmore and Kevan Marks stepped up to the plate to shoot a deciding 10-bird sequence, with Becky unfortunately dropping 2 birds, allowing Kevan to claim victory and the beautiful Browning Heritage (pictured), kindly given by David Stapley and International Sports Brands. Our hearty congratulations to Kevan, and commiserations to Becky – she shot an amazing round, so as a small consolation prize we gave her a well-deserved magnum of Taittinger.
Top side-by-side in the qualifying rounds was Matthew Stafford, who shot a total of 84 to win the Land Rover Experience donated by Stratstone of Mayfair, and Kevin Lillywjite, the only person to have straighted the Laporte Compak, wins the trap donated by Laporte.
The highest scoring team during qualifying amassed a total of 355 points, earning themselve a bottle of Taittinger each, so congratulations to Kevin and Louise Smith, Ed Solomons and Amy Easeman.
We were very pleased to have Time Inc. onboard as a sponsor this year, providing cups through three of their magazines for individual competitions.
The respective winners were:
Shooting Times Cup – Eric Pritchard on 91×100
Shooting Gazette Cup – Alan Payne on 84×100
Sporting Gun Cup – Nigel Parry on 70×100
May we take this opportunity to thank all those who entered the competition, our worthy winners and all of the sponsors who so kindly donated prizes, including Gamebore who provided cartridges for weekly prizes.
