Tree Planting

Launched in March 2022 our tree planting initiative came from a seed of an idea by one our Purdey craftsmen, Owen Hastings. This initiative places our environmental responsibility front and centre, and helps to play a small part in giving back to the landscape that we value so much.

For every Purdey gun or rifle that we sell, we will now plant a tree, celebrating the walnut wood used in our gunmaking. We will also plant several more trees for good measure, including extra varieties to support the habitat in the surrounding area. This planting will take place once a year at our shooting grounds in Pangbourne, Berkshire.

Our heritage is rooted in selling guns and rifles and it is important for us to strengthen all our efforts when it comes to sustainability. The breadth of trees planted helps contribute to cross-pollination, encouraging and supporting wildlife in the area from bees and insects to birds and mammals and building the biodiversity around our shooting grounds. Our new trees have also been added to the register of the late Queen’s Green Canopy, and we share similar objectives.

For our Purdey owners that have placed an order for a new Purdey since 1st April 2021, you can now enter your serial number on the next page and it will show the  location of your tree and the date it was planted.
