We are proud to be presenting for sale this pair of William Evans 20-Bore self-opening sidelock ejectors. They were made, in 2009, for the legendary guitarist, singer and song writer Eric Clapton.
Incorporating a Holland & Holland style single trigger mechanism they have 28”, standard proof barrels with 2 ¾” chambers and have beautiful 14¾” stocks (cast off). Aside from their provenance, what really makes these guns so remarkable is stunning engraving by Marcus Hunt, the famous game scene engraver. On the lockplates there are scenes of Eric Clapton fishing, playing the guitar and shooting (his most favorite hobbies).
Gun Room Manager, Alastair, who previously managed William Evans, remembers this pair well and sees them as one of the highlights of his time at this famous gunmaker. As would be expected of such a pair of guns, they are cased in the finest oak and leather case that is fitted with the highest quality accessories and all carefully protected by a handstitched leather and canvas cover.
